Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka
A versatile creative mind, the Graz-based double bass player Margarethe Maierhofer-Lischka is musically active across the fields of contemporary music, improvisation and sound art. After classical instrumental training in Dresden and Rostock, she studied contemporary music with Klangforum Wien, and completed her doctorate in 2020 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with a thesis on contemporary music theater. She is a founding member of Ensemble Schallfeld. As an improviser, she works in bands and interdisciplinary projects with theater, dance / performance, media and literature, exploring new sounds and ways of interaction between musical instruments, body, space and voice. Her works for radio & film have been featured at the DocLisboa Filmfestival, Diagonale Filmfestival Austria, soundartradio England as well as in Radio Art Zone Festival (Luxembourg).
