Þórbergur Bollason
Þórbergur Bollason is a composer, teacher, pianist, and conductor. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in composition from the Iceland University of the Arts (IUA) in 2023 where he learned with Atli Ingólfsson and has since been composing by commission. Since last fall Þórbergur has been learning piano performance and pedagogy at IUA under the tutelage of Peter Maté and Edda Erlendsdóttir, and rhythmic piano performance with Sunna Gunnlaugs.
Þórbergur has additionally studied conducting with Gunnsteinn Ólafsson and Magnús Ragnarsson at IUA. He has conducted public performances of both chamber and choir music. Þórbergur was a member of the spring 2024 Conductors-academy of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
Þórbergur has been active on the music scene. Among other, he is a member of, has written for and conducted Huldur, a new, progressive and ambitious chamber-choir conducted by Hreiðar Ingi Þorsteinsson. He is also a member of the jazz-duo SLAGSMÁL which released the album Spáflugan springur in the summer 2023.
