Ana Maria Oancea

Ana Maria Oancea (1998- ) is a composer from Romania, currently attending post-master's studies in composition at the Grieg Academy in Bergen.

 

Her previous bachelor’s studies were completed at the National University of Music in Bucharest, Romania, where she focused on chamber ensemble composition and dance-inspired structures and rhythms. During her stay in Bucharest, she also experimented with electronic music and was commissioned by Scena9.

 

After beginning her studies in Bergen, she has worked with ensembles such as the Bergen Improstorband, Quasar Saxophone Quartet, and Edvard Grieg Vokalensemble, and has collaborated with visual artists from KMD.

 

Besides acoustic and electronic media, stage performance and screen productions are also focal points in Ana Maria's work. Her latest premiere brought her chamber opera project based on 'The Yellow Wallpaper' to Cornerteateret's stage on the 13th and 14th of June. In addition to being directly involved in sound projects, she is also acting as an event promoter for nyMusikk Bergen and Teatrul din Buzunar.
