Emil Lehre

Emil Lehre grew up in the countryside of South-Eastern Norway – hardly a stronghold of contemporary art music. However, thanks to his family of musicophiles and melomaniacs, he was immersed in all kinds of classical music from infancy. Over the past years, he has grown increasingly fond of the music of the Second Viennese School and that of the composers following in their footsteps. Of course, he is also eager to explore other styles and movements from yesterday and today.

Emil began his journey as a pianist, which in turn made him an amateur composer. Now it seems the boot is on the other foot: Due to lack of practice time, his composing has degraded him to an amateur pianist. Which means there’s no way out but to become a true composer. This implies there’s no way out but to become a true composer. After a year of composition lessons, including some in the talent program at the Norwegian Academy of Music, and some light German studies, Emil started his Bachelor of Composition in Bergen. By summer, he will have completed his first year. So far, he has written pieces for solo and chamber music, and a composition for wind ensemble.

Besides composing, Emil enjoys reading and rambling through nature.
