Francisco Corthey
Francisco Corthey was born on August 6, 1991, in Entre RÃos, Argentina. Since an early age, he has participated as a percussionist in various musical projects, particularly in Argentine folk music and rock. At the age of 18, he moved to La Plata, Buenos Aires, where he completed a degree in Music Composition under the tutelage of Mariano Etkin among others, as well as Orchestral Conducting. During this time, he also took violin lessons with distinguished violinists from the Teatro Argentino de La Plata Symphony Orchestra and served as the principal second violinist for three years in the Teatro Argentino Chamber Orchestra. Additionally, he was the percussionist for Tapeku'a, a band specializing in Argentine Littoral music.

In 2021, he earned a Master’s degree in Composition from Georgia Southern University (USA), where he was mentored by Martin Gendelman. In Spring 2022, he completed an Artistic Diploma at the Grieg Academy - University of Bergen (Norway), mentored by Dániel Péter Biró. Since Fall 2022, he has been a PhD candidate in Composition at SUNY University at Buffalo under the guidance of Tiffany Skidmore.
