Oleg Krokhalev
Oleg Krokhalev, born in 1992 in Perm, Russia, studied composition under Prof. Vladimir Tarnopolski at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatoire (2014-2019).
Actively engaged in the Russian new music scene, he participated in projects such as SOTA (Golden Mask Institute, Stanislavsky Electric Theatre), Introduction (Trekhgornaya Manufaktura concert series, curated by Sergei Newski), and Open Space Laboratory (curated by Dmitry Kourliandski), the Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky city (2012-2018), and Underground and Improvisation (commission of the Berlin Academy of Arts), as well as Südseite Nachts (Stuttgart). Recent highlights include commissions from the Theatre of Nations (chamber opera «Notes from the Underground») and participation in events such as Langer Tag der Neuen Musik Festival and the «Alla Breve» opera project (Düsseldorf).
His works have been performed by esteemed ensembles and musicians, including Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, N'Caged, MCME, Zohn Collective, Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich, Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, «Novaya Russia» orchestra (conductor Yuri Bashmet), and flutists Maria Kalesnikava and Ivan Bushuev. Additionally, he has worked in Russian and Moscow theatres and served as the chief music editor of «Vash Dosug» magazine (Moscow, 2020-2022).
Since 2022, Krokhalev has resided in Düsseldorf, where he recently obtained his Master's degree at the Robert Schumann Hochschule with Prof. José-MarÃa Sánchez-Verdú.
