Trinity Hlynn Prater

Trinity Hlynn Prater (*2000) is a southeast-American composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music. Prater’s music has been described as being “. . . marked by a sensitivity to sound color, formal rigour underneath beguiling music surfaces, and the need for new musical notations and instrumental extensions . . . ” and as “. . . concerned with sensuousness and poetic cadence.”


Instances of Prater’s work have occurred throughout the United States and the European Union, catalysed by soloists and ensembles such as Irvine Arditti, Ensemble PHACE, Ensemble Contemporary Insights, the MDR Orchester, and the Ensemble Institute .abeceda.


Prater studied composition between 2019 and 2024. During this time, she took part in long-term formal study with Sivan Cohen Elias, Robert Morris, and Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf. She currently resides, composes, and teaches in Leipzig.
