Ziyi Tao

Ziyi Tao (*2002) strives to write music that demands to be more than music. Ziyi is privileged to have received mentorship from Andrew Norman, Marco Momi, Dmitri Kourliandski, Max Grafe, and Reiko Füting. Ziyi investigates the connection between conceptual ideas and their embodiment through music, specifically questions concerning time, language, reflection/consciousness, and presence-absence. As a conductor, Ziyi is committed to both championing new music, as well as the thoughtful interpretation of traditional works that reinscribe their urgency and necessity in the present.
